How Batteries Work

"Benjamin Franklin was the first to use the word battery for a device that stores electricity. He built a battery by lining up several little conductor-filled jars in a row, making them look like a row of small cannons. In the military, a row of weapons is called a battery. Franklin saw the connection. Positive, negative, and charge were also terms first used by Franklin to describe electricity."
